Current Climbing Gym
Current Climbing was a life long dream of this clients, and working alongside someone so passionate about this project was a pleasure. The plan was to open a local climbing gym beside the Chilliwack River at the same time as opening a not-for-profit climbing gym alongside the Sherpa people of Nepal. We wanted to incorporate symbols of the river AND the Sherpa people. The final logo-mark brought together the the waves of the Chilliwack River and the shape of the Sherpa Knot (one of the eight auspicious symbols). We positioned them in the market of climbing gyms as a MOVEMENT - as in social movements (mobilizing people behind a shared purpose) and as in physical movements (like the flowing of a current). They would focus on memberships, community, environmental warmth, and engaging people on a deeper level than the average drop-in gym through a variety of social rewards, photography, social media and gym culture initiatives. * All photos by @dawsfriesen and @inmist
